The Final
Security Rule set standards for the security of electronic
health information and was published in the Federal Register on February 20,
2003. This was then admended February 16, 2006 and is known as the
HIPAA
Administration Simplification Regulation Text
Changes were made to the enforcement of HIPAA Rules as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. This provision is known as the
HITECH Act enforcement Interim Final Rule.
